Why did you choose a career in barbering?
“Barbering has always attracted me, with it’s independence and creativity around the trade. You really can express yourself and tailor the job to fit you”
How did you train to be a barber?
“I trained in South London at an established barber school”
What do you love about being a barber?
“I love the personal and social interaction with interesting people. You can create an environment that represents who you are. If customers like it, it becomes a pleasure to do every day.”
What don’t you love about being a barber?
“When customers explain how to cut their hair, i.e. what techniques to use etc!”
Where do you see the barbering industry going?
“Different countries/cultures will change their style to adapt to the current trends. I see our culture moving more towards a classic style of service – respectful service, lots of products etc.”
If you had any advice to give to a new barber student, what would it be?
“Go into your first job wanting to learn from the top barber and boss. Do not have the attitude that you know everything already, the training starts here.”
